When you receive a new assignment, but don't know where to begin, Brown University Library suggests asking ChatGPT or another chatbot "to summarize the current state of research on a topic to begin the brainstorming process" (Brown University Library, 2023).

Other suggestions from Brown University Library when you begin a new research project: ask the chatbot to:

create "basic outlines or tables based on text you input."
list "synonyms, similar concepts, phrases, theories, or methods."
