WHAT IS A SWOT ANALYSIS?

An organization or business may use a "SWOT" analysis for strategic planning to recognize its internal strengths and weaknesses and its external opportunities and threats.

Although the APA Publication Manual provides instructions on how to cite many different resources, some business database resources include information that is not addressed in the Manual. The examples below are NAU's careful interpretation of APA rules. 

Citing a company profile from Business Source Premier, but authored by a third party:

  • Reference pattern: Author. (year, Month day). Company. [Company profile]. Business Source Premier.

  • Reference example: Marketline. (2021, September 7). Columbia Sportwear Company. [Company profile]. Business Source Premier.

  • In-text example: (Marketline, 2021).

Citing an entire company profile from Nexis Uni:

  • Reference pattern: LexisNexis. (n.d.). Company. [Company profile]. Nexis Uni.

  • Reference example: LexisNexis. (n.d.). Columbia Sportswear Company. [Company profile]. Nexis Uni.

  • In-text example: (LexisNexis, n.d.).

Citing company information on Nexis Uni, but authored by a third party:
