NAU Foundation Scholarship Information & Applications

Academic Excellence Scholarship

The Academic Excellence Scholarship is provided by the NAU Foundation as opportunity to provide support to our continuing students who have shown academic achievement in the form of a 3.66 or above cumulative GPA. There are several awarded each year, to undergraduate students, to master’s students, and to our doctoral students.

 

Scholarship Information

Amounts:  Undergraduate - $1,500  | Master's - $1,500  | Doctoral - $1,000

# Available: 2 - Undergraduate, 2 - Master's, 1 - Doctor of Education, 1 - Doctorate of Strategic Security

 

Distributed:

Undergrad: The award will be disbursed $750 per Fall 2022 term and $750 per Winter 2022/23 term, unless Fall term is the final term to complete degree.  If Fall term is the final term to complete degree, then the full $1,500 will be disbursed Fall term.

Masters: The award will be disbursed $750 per Fall 2022 term and $750 per Winter 2022/23 term, unless Fall term is the final term to complete degree.  If Fall term is the final term to complete degree, then the full $1,500 will be disbursed Fall term.

Doctoral (Doctorate of Strategic Security): The award will be disbursed $500 per Fall 2022 term and $500 per Winter 2022/23 term, unless Fall term is the final term to complete degree.  If Fall term is the final term to complete degree, then the full $1,000 will be disbursed Fall term.

Doctoral (Doctor of Education): The award will be disbursed $500 per Fall 2022 term and $500 per Spring 2023 term, unless Fall term is the final term to complete degree.  If Fall term is the final term to complete degree, then the full $1,000 will be disbursed Fall term.

 

Criteria:

Undergraduate  Criteria:

1. Be enrolled in an undergraduate program at National American University (NAU).

2. Attended half-time or more (at least 6 credits) at NAU for both of the prior Fall 2021 & Winter 2021/2022 terms.

  • Fall 2021 terms include Fall A 2021 (9/7/21-11/22/21); Fall B 2021 (10/4/21-12/19/21); Fall C 2021 (11/1/21-1/16/22)
  • Winter 2021/22 terms include Winter A 2021 (12/6/21-2/20/22); Winter B 2022 (1/3/22-3/20/22); Winter C 2022 (2/7/22-4/24/22)

3. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.66 – evaluated at the end of the Winter term.

Masters Criteria:

1. Be enrolled in a graduate master’s program at National American University (NAU).

2. Attended half-time or more (at least 4.5 credits) at NAU for both of the prior Fall 2021 & Winter 2021/2022 terms.

  • Fall 2021 terms include Fall A 2021 (9/7/21-11/22/21); Fall B 2021 (10/4/21-12/19/21)

  • Winter 2021/22 terms include Winter A 2021 (12/6/21-2/20/22); Winter B 2022 (1/3/22-3/20/22)

3. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.66 – evaluated at the end of the winter term.

Doctorate of Strategic Security Criteria:

1. Be enrolled in the Doctorate of Strategic Security program at National American University (NAU).

2. Attended half-time or more (at least 4.5 credits) at NAU for both of the prior Fall 2021 & Winter 2021/2022 terms.

  • Fall 2021 term includes Fall B 2021 (10/4/21-12/19/21)

  • Winter 2021/22 term includes Winter B 2022 (1/3/22-3/20/22)

3. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.66 – evaluated at the end of the Winter term.

Doctor of Education Criteria:

1. Be enrolled in the Doctor of Education program at National American University (NAU).

2. Attended half-time or more (at least 3 credits) at NAU for both of the prior Fall 2021 & Spring 2022 terms.

  • Fall 2021 term includes Fall 2021 (8/30/21-12/17/21)

  • Spring 2022 term includes Spring 2022 (1/3/22-4/22/22)

3. Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.66 – evaluated at the end of the Winter term.

 

To be submitted with ALL above applications:

  • Two letters of reference, with at least one from a faculty or staff member at NAU, and

  • A brief autobiography (250 words or less) describing your career goals and objectives, involvement in extracurricular activities, financial need, and any other pertinent information.
