Course Materials FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:

Why is the bookstore changing?

A:

NAU is always looking for current innovations and opportunities to assist our students. This will provide students with a lower cost and easier access to their materials on the first day of class.

Q:

What is the opt-out?

A:

Students will be sent an email order confirmation before classes begin notifying them which courses have been charged the resource material fee. Students have the option to opt-out of those fees a week before quarter starts and during the 1st week of the quarter.

Q:

How much does the Inclusive Access course material service cost?

A:

$50 per course participating in this service.

Q:

Where do I go to opt-out?

A:

Log into your student portal, select the "Course Material" tile, choose the course you want to "opt-out" of and click the opt-out button. You will receive an email confirmation from Ambassador when the opt out has been successful.

Q:

If I opt-out by mistake can I opt-back in?

A:

Yes, you are automatically opted back in at the start of your next quarter. If you opted out during your current quarter and need to order course materials, contact your Student Services Advisor or call 800.770.2959.

Q:

I dropped the course(s). Do I still need to opt-out?

A:

If you drop your course(s) during the opt-out period, you will be automatically opted out of those dropped courses and not charged the resource material fee(s). If you drop your course(s) outside the opt-out period, you may be charged for all or a portion of the resource material fee(s).

Q:

I forgot to opt-out and missed the deadline. Can I still opt-out?

A:

No. If the opt-out period is over, the option is no longer available. You can review the opt-out calendar here.

Q:

If I opt-out of the Inclusive Access course material service, will my course be dropped?

A:

No, opting out is only for course materials. You will still be registered but will need to find your materials for the course(s) on your own.

Q:

I never accessed by eBook or Access Code. Will I still be charged the resource material fee?

A:

Yes. If you did not opt-out during the opt-out period, you will be charged accordingly.

Q:

What if I do not want an eBook, can I order a Textbook?

A:

Not through the Inclusive Access course material delivery service. Digital course materials are naturally less expensive which allows NAU to offer this new service at a lower cost. If you do not want an eBook, you will need to opt-out of the course(s) before the end of the 7th day of the quarter and purchase your resource materials elsewhere.

Q:

If I have further questions about this process, who do I contact?

A:

We encourage you to read the information and guides we have located in the OneStop Resource Center. If you still have further questions, you can contact your Student Services Advisor or call 800.770.2959.
